My career journey:
My career journey as a consultant for dental practices happened by circumstance. For a number of years, I worked as a dental practice manager – a job that suited the lifestyle of my growing family and me. During this time, I crossed paths numerous times with an inspiring mentor and consultant who ignited my interest in this work and eventually offered me a position in her company. After she retired in 2018, I took the leap and created BenchMark Practice Management Consulting (https://yourbenchmark.ca/).
My expertise lies in assessment of dental practice opportunities and providing customized solutions, working with dentists and their team members in a way that effectively transforms their practices. I aim to help owners and their teams achieve victories with results that often provide less stress in their daily lives.
Favourite professional moments, so far:
My proudest professional moments happen often, when receiving feedback from a dentist or a team member they let me know that my love for my work is apparent. I strive to bring this passion to each project. I always ensure that clients have a return on their investment while the team is happy during the process. A client’s referral to a friend of theirs is the highest compliment they can bestow.
I transfer the same passion to my personal life. Whether I commit to a project, person, or pastime, I am all in. This includes my family, my friends, or my fitness pursuits. I feel gratitude and appreciation for the grand and exciting achievements as well as the tiniest, most minute aspects of each day.
I believe in constant growth and find inspiration for my personal and professional life through reading, podcasts, and continuing education. My process is to absorb as much as I can, then sort and extract what can transfer to the dental industry and at some point, help a client. Author/speaker Steve Farber says, “Do what you love in the service of people who love what you do,” and this completely resonates with me and my work.
Hopes for the future:
The world of dentistry is changing daily, for many different reasons. My hope is that I can play an essential part in helping owners and teams navigate the waters, as they grow to meet their goals and achieve their professional dreams.
Tips to share with the world:
Change in life is inevitable, and it’s taught me so much on the road to creating BenchMark. If I can share one piece of advice for anyone, it’s that while change can be difficult, remaining stagnant can be stifling, professionally and personally. So, research the changes you want to make, then take a chance and leap!
