Today I learned that BlackBerry Messenger, now BBMe, may have its brightest days ahead.

Updated: Jun 22, 2019

"BBM me later!" BlackBerry had changed the way that we communicate, on groundbreaking devices, and made it secure and fun. It's been difficult to miss the news reports and social media posts over the last few days covering the end of BBM for consumers, and remembering the impact that BBM had on the culture of digital communication. I trusted BBM to keep in touch with friends, family and co-workers.

The great news is that in many ways BBM isn't really at its end. It's actually at a new beginning, and one that may allow users to enjoy an even more powerful, private, and reliable messaging, phone, and video communication experience.

BBM Enterprise (BBMe) encrypted chat service is now available to all individual users, not just enterprise customers. This is huge news! In a world where privacy and security are of the utmost importance, all individual users now have access to BlackBerry Secure messaging. Encrypted. Enterprise grade.

I found switching to BBMe to be easy. Download the app, setup or enter your BlackBerry ID, invite connections and start chatting. Best of all there is a great desktop application that allows a user to enjoy BBMe right from their computer.

Kudos to BlackBerry for bringing this important technology to individual users around the world.

Important news in the privacy and security arena always catches my eye. Thank you BlackBerry for opening your doors to individual users that see the value of enterprise grade messaging security and privacy.
