International Dance Day Woman In Focus: Hayley Nathan, CEO, Rhythm Dance Studio

By: Hayley Nathan, Founder & CEO, Rhythm Dance Studio

On starting off...

Dance has always been a vital part of my life. As a child, Intense levels of competitive dancing was part of my weekly routine. Dance has always been my art, my sport, and now, my business. After graduating from The Randolph College for Performing Arts, I had the privilege of enjoying a wonderful career as a professional dancer and graced the stage of Radio City Music Hall as a New York City Rockette. Even as a professional dancer, it was always my dream to open and operate a studio of my own and give back to the younger generations.

On Dreaming...

From the very beginning, it was always my dream to give back, teach and inspire younger dancers. The connections you make and the positive influence you can have on their lives is as rewarding for me, as performing to a sold out theatre.

On Gratitude...

Rhythm Dance Studio is proud to be celebrating it's 15th Anniversary!

I am so lucky to be able to live my dream every day. Rhythm Dance Studio was started in the basement of a nursery school and grew from there. We started by offering recreational dance classes and eventually added an amazing program named “Company”.

Company offered our students the opportunity to dance 3 classes per week and give back to the community. Company dancers would perform at fundraisers, long-term care facilities and even entertained patrons at the half-time show of the Toronto Raptor's games.

On business growth...

As Rhythm continued to grow, our Competitive Program became an exciting addition to our studio programming. Our competitive dancers train 10+ hours per week , are committed to their intensive training and thrive on the challenge and goals they set for themselves.

On realizing our dream studio space...

In September 2019, Rhythm moved into a brand new 11,000 sq/feet state of the art facility. We are so proud to be able to offer the very best in dance instruction to our students. The teaching faculty is like a second family and their dedication and commitment shines through in their classes and on stage.

On the global pandemic...

COVID-19 has challenged us all and Rhythm is focused on helping our students navigate these hard times. We need to depend on the strength of one another to be ok.

The Rhythm Dance family is very close knit and we are all working together to get through this. Through Zoom online classes, our teachers are able to continue to motivate and stay connected to our dancers. Staff, students and dance families have all found the virtual classes to be a huge positive in our ability to navigate through these unprecedented times.

Dance will always be a connection our families share and seeing the dedication and commitment from our dancers and families makes everything so worth while.

I know we will all get through this together. Rhythm Dance Studio is so excited to celebrate International Dance Day and we are lucky to be living in a time where we can virtually dance and be together!!
